Asbestos Cement Pipe Refresher

Description

AC Pipe Refresher

According to Cal/OSHA, “asbestos-related work does not include the installation, repair, maintenance, or nondestructive removal of asbestos cement pipe used outside of buildings, if the installation, repair, maintenance, or nondestructive removal of asbestos cement pipe does not result in asbestos exposures to employees in excess of the [Permissible Exposure Limit (0.1 f/cc)]…and if the employees and supervisors involved in the operation have received training through a task-specific training program…with written certification of completion of that training by the training entity responsible for the training.”

As per Cal/OSHA, the following topics are an outline of subjects covered in both our four-hour initial and two-hour refresher ACP Worker training:

a. Physical Characteristics and Health Hazards of Asbestos

b. Types of Asbestos Containing Construction Material

c. Safe Practices and Procedures for Minimizing Exposure

d. Asbestos General Industry and Construction Standards

e. Hands-on Instruction Using Tools and Equipment

Please note that all training certification is only valid for one year from the training date. However, a student may still attend a refresher training course if completed within two years from the last training date. After two years from a training date, a student must retake an initial course and will not be given a refresher training certificate from FACS. It is up to the Client to determine which employees need initial training verses a refresher course.
