AHERA Contractor/Supervisor Initial

Description

Passing this 40-hour course allows you to supervise the removal of asbestos products in demolition and renovation projects as an AHERA accredited Contractor Supervisor.

The EPA and OSHA require this accreditation if you ever supervise the removal of asbestos-containing products that fill more than one glovebag or waste container.

You learn how to safely remove asbestos products using the most up-to-date methods and equipment. You strengthen your understanding of safety issues, regulations, protocols, and practices that protect workers’ health.

With the guidance of experienced abatement contractors, you practice:

  • setting up containments
  • taking air samples
  • using HEPA vacuums, glovebags, and other safety equipment

You are prepared to supervise the work yourself, or to interact successfully with contractors, industrial hygienists, and consultants who plan and perform the work.

This course is required to register with California (or Nevada) as an Asbestos contractor, and is one of the Cal-OSHA requirements for Certified Asbestos Consultants and Site Surveillance Technicians.

An annual 8-hour refresher course is required to retain your AHERA accreditation and/or California asbestos certification.
